Route/Fast March Theory

Fact: The shortest man's widest stride cannot match the tallest man's widest stride because of the difference in length of their legs.

During my time in BMT when I did my route marches, I never walked in step. We did walk in step at the start but all followed their own timing after a while. I felt it was good because everyone can walk at their own happy timing.

After coming to OCS, all the route/fast marches conducted had to be done in step. That is everyone walks to the count of one timer. It is really tiring keeping up with the timing. The timer comes from the middle and it's very fast. Most of the time, I am controlling and limiting my steps and not able to stretch fully. No one can fully stride as well. So I asked the conducting officer why do we have to march in step and wouldn't it be better and more efficient if everyone marched their own pace. He told me it was for the sake of compromise. Fair enough. Then, I came up with the theory.

Having the shortest at the front to the tallest at the back, the first 3 cadets will open their strides wider than normal walking but at the same time, at a comfortable pace. Then everyone behind will follow the first 3's timing.

Conclusion: The pace will be slower, the distance covered will be the same, everyone will be less tired, everyone marches in step. Efficient.

Readers, what do you think about this? Does it make sense? :)

LEFT RIGHT!

LEFT RIGHT!

HA HA

LOOK AT THEM!

GO BRUNEI!

21 days!

LOOK AT US!

GO TEKONG

10 DAYS!

HA HA

we did soc. damn shag like what tzesam and weicheng said. im so slow. i wanna have a faster soc timing. we did route marches. i must say the mental build up from knowing you have a route march on this so and so day till the day itself is really torturous. the day before the march my mind will be flooded with so many thoughts. then when you do the march itself again your mind is like having a war. the battle between falling out/ giving up and pressing on to finish the damn journey. the last 2km of the 6km fast march was my most enjoyable one. hardly felt the pain i used to feel. finished it really quickly and in high spirits. kudos. hope that means my combat fitness has improved and that i can pawn tzesam in fast march now. KIDDDING.

preparation to tekong field camp is also quite tedious. last week i was really dreading it. this time around i am quite looking forward to it. faster throw me some shit and let me suffer in the dirt and sun. i wanna SUFFER more AGAIN. so i can come out stronger again.

civilian life always a problem. climber-turn-soldiers goes everywhere for training. junyu and ter go 3weeks taiwan. graham go 21days brunei jcc. rongjun go out sea for dunno 3mths. bel already at 10days tekong. weicheng also going taiwan in sept. i also going 10days tekong. LIKE THAT HOW? weicheng will tell you how.

fieldcamp. i hope i will enjoy and have fun. =D
